Several G20 meetings are set to occur in Asheville, North Carolina. The meetings have drawn controversy, as members of the Trump Administration are set to attend.
The G20, or "Group of Twenty," was established in 1999 in response to financial crises in the late 1990s, according to G20.org. While President Donald Trump is expected to host the G20 Leaders' Summit, which will take place in Miami, Florida, Dec. 14-15 this year, no indication has been made that he will attend the Asheville events.
Previous leaders summits have taken place in South Africa, Brazil, India, Indonesia and more. G20 events in 2026 will be held in the U.S., including Asheville and the Raleigh-Durham area in North Carolina. Georgia, Florida, Texas and Wisconsin will also host
G20 planning and policy meetings.
With the Asheville portion of the G20 event series set to begin tomorrow, Saturday, Aug. 29, here are the answers to some questions around the events.

The Finance and Central Bank Deputies Meeting and the Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Ministerial will be held in Asheville.

Dates for the Finance and Central Bank Deputies Meeting are Aug. 29-30, and dates for the Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Ministerial are Aug. 31-Sept. 1.
Who is coming to the Asheville G20 meeting? Will Trump be at the Asheville G20 meeting?
Hosted by U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent, G20 events in Asheville will convene finance ministers, central bank governors, deputies and senior officials from some of the world's leading economies to advance discussions on global economic priorities, according to the U.S. Department of the Treasury.
While members of the Trump Administration, including Bessent, will attend the meetings, no indication has been made that Trump himself will attend.

The Omni Grove Park Inn, which has previously hosted former Presidents Barack Obama and Franklin Delano Roosevelt, as well as an exiled Philippine president, will host the G20 events set to take place in Asheville.

A number of protests against the G20 are planned in Asheville while the conference takes place.
WNC Alignment, described as "a group of local activist and political organizations working together to address issues impacting our most vulnerable communities and build collective power," has said it wants investment in "things that build up everyday people around the world," including schools, healthcare, safety, nature, renewable energy sources and communities.
