ASHEVILLE - A second person has been chargedin an April shooting at Hillcrest Apartments, according to the Asheville Police Department.
Trevon Demarkus Stone, 29, of Asheville, faces charges of attempted first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, possession of a firearm by a felon and injury to personal property in the shooting, which occurred April 26 on Atkinson Street.
Damien Dean, 36, of Asheville, was shot in the leg and was taken to Mission Hospital, Asheville Police Capt. Joe Silberman told the Citizen Times Sept. 14.
Police previously arrested Lamon Tyrik Smith Jr., 20, and charged him with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or
inflict serious injury, possessing a weapon of mass destruction, attempted first-degree murder, felony conspiracy and injury to personal property.
A 16-year-old also was charged in both the Atkinson Street shooting and a shooting on July 5 at Maple Crest Apartments on Lee Garden Lane, according to police.
A person allegedly involved in the Lee Garden Lane shooting was connected to theBiltmore Avenue shooting July 19, Silberman said. That shootingkilled Lamarius Jones, 22, and Marques Davis Jr., 24, both of Asheville, and wounded seven others. Silberman previously said that the people involved in the shootings are suspected to be in gangs.
The Atkinson Street shooting, the Lee Garden Lane shooting, and the Biltmore Avenue shooting were found to be connected through the people involved, Silberman said.
Those shootings also were connected to two others in Western North Carolina, Silberman said.
