There are only a few more weeks left in the 2026 North Carolina high school football season following the conclusion of Week 7.
Here are two takeaways from Week 7 of WNC high school football, including Franklin's impressive day through the air against Tuscola.
Anderson Terrell shines in Franklin's win over Tuscola
The Mountaineers refused to let Franklin and running back Garrett Young beat them on the ground. Panthers coach Josh Brooks said they stacked the box, daring them to throw.
Franklin did and did it well in a 42-33 win vs. Tuscola. Quarterback Anderson Terrell threw four touchdown passes while running for another. Antonio Hernandez, Lance Parker and Gabe Harrison caught the four touchdown passes.
"We
came into the game, planning to throw the ball, probably more than we normally do," Brooks said. "The guys embraced it."
Enka runs wild in victory over North Buncombe
The Jets had three players run for over 100 yards in a 57-36 win vs. North Buncombe.
Running back Tommy McKinney had 177 yards and four touchdowns on 14 carries while wide receivers Jose Chavez and Jake Gerolimatos combined for 249 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries.
It marked McKinney's third 100-yard rushing performance of the season.
"When he hits top speed, a lot of people are not wanting to stick their nose in there and try to tackle him," Enka coach Jim Beatty said.
