The 2026 North Carolina high school football season is heading into Week 4.
Enka defensive back Levi Richards returned an interception 39 yards for a touchdown to help secure a 26-21 win over Pisgah in the lone top-10 matchup in Week 3. There are two top-10 matchups between Asheville School at Asheville High and Pisgah at Smoky Mountain this week.
Here are our Super 10 Western North Carolina high school football rankings ahead of Week 4.
1. Hendersonville (3-0)
Running back Jordan Buford ran for 96 yards on nine carries and three touchdowns to lead the Bearcats to a 21-12
win over North Henderson. The win seals the Henderson County championship, going to the Bearcats for the second year in a row.
This week: at Erwin (2-1). Last week: No. 2.
2. Franklin (3-0)
The Panthers return to action when they travel to East Henderson this week. They did not play in Week 3 after Swain County forfeited on Sept. 4 because it lacked enough healthy players.
This week: at East Henderson (1-2). Last week: No. 4.
3. Tuscola (3-0)
Running back Sam Trantham ran for over 260 yards for the second straight week. He ran for 266 yards and five touchdowns on 16 carries and caught a 48-yard touchdown in a 47-6 win vs. South Caldwell.
This week: at North Henderson (0-3). Last week: No. 5.
4. Roberson (2-1)
Roberson's furious fourth-quarter rally fell short against South Point in Week 3, resulting in a 19-16 loss. Quarterback Karod Harris didn't have a great day throwing the ball. He completed five of 16 passes for 45 yards with no touchdowns and three interceptions. But he ran for 112 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries.
This week: at Freedom (3-0). Last week: No. 1.
5. Asheville High (2-1)
Wide receiver Jams Skyes had 100 or more receiving yards for the second week in a row. He caught four passes for 120 yards in a 17-3 loss vs. Crest. The only week he didn't surpass 100 yards was in Week 1 against East Rutherford, when he ended with 97.
This week: vs. No. 9 Asheville School (2-1). Last week: No. 3.
6. Christ School (3-0)
Kicker Wes McAven drilled what proved to be the game-winning extra point with 11 seconds left to seal a 42-41 win over Harrells Christian Academy last week. Quarterback Mak Anderson set up the go-ahead extra point with a 32-yard passing touchdown to wide receiver Jason Dorel Onana.
This week: vs. North Cross (Va.) Sept. 12 at 2 p.m. Last week: No. 6.
7. Smoky Mountain (3-0)
Smoky Mountain's defense held an opponent to six points for the second time in three weeks. It is allowing eight points per game so far. Linebacker Hunter Cole leads the team in tackles with 26 and has recorded an interception.
This week: vs. No. 10 Pisgah (2-1). Last week: No. 7.
8. Enka (3-0)
The Jets stifled the Bears' running game to secure a 26-21 win over Pisgah to start a season 3-0 for the first time since 2011. Enka held them to 84 rushing yards and a touchdown on 34 carries.
This week: at Cherokee (2-1). Last week: No. 9.
9. Asheville School (2-1)
Running back Shiloh Mukendi's 680 rushing yards are good enough for fifth-best in North Carolina and 18th-best in the country. He ran for 343 yards and three touchdowns on 17 carries in a 62-31 win vs. R-S Central.
This week: at No. 5 Asheville High (2-1). Last week: No. 10.
10. Pisgah (2-1)
Quarterback Zane Wilson and wide receiver Ryan Rife helped Pisgah overcome an off day running the ball, where it averaged 2.5 yards per carry. Wilson completed 13 of 26 passes for 243 yards and two touchdowns. Rife caught five passes for 147 yards and two touchdowns in a 26-21 loss vs. Enka.
This week: at No. 7 Smoky Mountain (3-0). Last week: No. 8.
