ASHEVILLE - Asheville police announced that a driver who struck a pedestrian on Tunnel Road in September will not be charged.
Police went to the 1140 block of Tunnel Road to investigate the wreck around 8:16 p.m. on Sept. 10. A 2016 Nissan Rogue had been traveling east on Tunnel Road through a green light at the Riceville Road intersection when it struck a pedestrian, who was in the road and not a crosswalk, APD spokesperson Rick Rice said. The man was transported to Mission Hospital, where he died.
Police identified the pedestrian as Andrew Joseph Kolvick, 71, of Asheville.
