The 2026 North Carolina high school football season is nearing its halfway point.
Asheville High defensive back TK Davis intercepted a pass in the end zone to seal a 38-35 win over Asheville School in one of two top-10 matchups in Week 4.
Here are our Super 10 Western North Carolina high school football rankings ahead of Week 5.
1. Hendersonville (4-0)
Quarterback JaRon Ward had a career day for the Bearcats, completing 17 of 23 passes for 296 yards and four touchdowns while running for 117 yards on 12 carries in a 42-35 win vs. Erwin on Sept. 11. It was a bounce-back performance for the Hendersonville offense after only putting up 21 points in a win against North Henderson in Week 3.
This week: at No. 9 Mitchell (3-1). Last week: No. 1.
2. Franklin (4-0, 1-0 Mountain Eight Conference)
The Panthers rode a 28-point first
quarter to a 41-7 win over East Henderson on Sept. 11. Running back Garrett Young ran for 54 yards and two touchdowns on four carries in the victory.
This week: at Brevard (0-3). Last week: No. 2.
3. Tuscola (4-0, 1-0 Mountain Eight Conference)
Quarterback Isaiah Hyatt led the Mountaineers to a 48-6 victory over North Henderson in Week 4. He completed 10 of 11 passes for 139 yards and three touchdowns. Wide receiver Elijah Pruitt caught two passes for 65 yards and two touchdowns in the win.
This week: at West Henderson (2-1). Last week: No. 3.
4. Roberson (3-1)
Roberson's offense got back on track in a 63-27 win vs. Freedom in Week 4 after falling to South Point 19-16 on Sept. 4. Quarterback Karod Harris threw for over 200 yards and five touchdowns with an interception and ran for over 100 yards and a touchdown. Running back Mookah Simpson rushed for 115 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries in the victory.
This week: vs. South Caldwell (2-2). Last week: No. 4.
5. Asheville High (3-1)
The Cougars struggled to contain Asheville School on the ground. Running backs Shiloh Mukendi and Gianluca Frangipane and quarterback Gavin Marsh combined to rush for 406 yards and four touchdowns on 54 carries for the Blues. Despite that, Asheville High still escaped with a 38-35 win over the Blues, thanks to a TK Davis interception in the final seconds.
This week: Open. Last week: No. 5.
6. Christ School (4-0)
The Greenies defense has been impressive so far in 2026. They've allowed only 19 points per game. In three out of their four games, their opponents have scored 16 points or fewer.
This week: vs. Charlotte Latin (2-2). Last week: No. 6.
7. Smoky Mountain (4-0, 1-0 Mountain Eight Conference)
Defensive back Damon Young recorded three interceptions to lead Smoky Mountain to a 33-7 win over then-No. 10 Pisgah in the other top-10 matchup last week. Two other Mustangs also had an interception in the victory.
This week: vs. East Henderson (1-3). Last week: No. 7.
8. Enka (4-0)
The Enka defense has been one of WNC's best so far, allowing 10 points per game. Linebacker Grady Allison had a team-high nine tackles in a 47-0 win vs. Cherokee in Week 4.
This week: vs. McDowell (1-2). Last week: No. 8.
9. Mitchell (3-1)
The Mountaineers held off a second-half rally from Robbinsville to win 14-13 on Sept. 11. Quarterback Owen Riddle ran for 88 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries in the victory.
This week: vs. No. 1 Hendersonville (4-0). Last week: Unranked.
10. Asheville School (2-2)
The Blues remain in the top 10 after taking No. 5 Asheville High down to the wire, falling 38-35. Running back Shiloh Mukendi ran for 260 yards and two touchdowns on 30 carries in the loss.
This week: at Charlotte Country Day School (2-1). Last week: No. 9.
