As we get closer and closer to the fall season, temperatures in Arizona continue to reach the 100s as we approach September.
The second half of August offered no relief from Arizona's typical mid-summer weather, with intense dust storms across the Valley and over a week of extreme heat warnings beginning Aug. 17.
Unfortunately, the upcoming week appears to be no different, with temperature highs still getting into triple digits. Here's what the National Weather Service forecast predicts for the next seven days, from August 27 to September 2:
- Thursday, Aug. 27: Highs around 113 degrees and lows around 90 degrees.
- Friday, Aug. 28: Highs around 112 degrees and lows around 90 degrees.
- Saturday, Aug. 29: Highs around 109 degrees and lows around 86 degrees.
- Sunday, Aug. 30: Highs around 105 degrees and lows around 82 degrees.
- Monday, Aug. 31: Highs around 101 degrees and lows around 82 degrees.
- Tuesday, Sept. 1: Highs around 103 degrees and lows around 85 degrees.
- Wednesday, Sept. 2: Highs around 106 degrees.
If you're looking for a cooldown, you'll have to wait a bit longer. Here's when it typically cools down in metro Phoenix.
When will it cool down in Arizona?
On brand with the nickname "Valley of the Sun," Arizona weather starts getting warm as
soon as late May and grips on, not dipping into 90 degrees or lower until well into September or October.
Though the temperature may slightly dip in the coming days, that doesn't really mean the hot weather is over. Rather, this is likely just a precursor to typical summer weather, which would mean we really won't see a significant cooldown until mid- to late-September.
When do triple-digit temps end in metro Phoenix?
The National Weather Service forecasts the average time Phoenix breaks into less than 100-degree weather is around Sept. 20.
