Randy Gatewood, the owner of Randizzle's Food Truck, is opening his first brick-and-mortar store in downtown Phoenix. While he initially planned to open in the former Wayback Burgers space in Gilbert, he was forced to pivot.
In a July 16 Instagram post, Gatewood explained that, despite his efforts to secure Wayback's space, he was unable to do so because the landlord was uncomfortable with this being his first brick-and-mortar.
He explained that, while disappointed, he decided to push forward and found a location in downtown Phoenix. He plans to move into the building at 521 W. McDowell Road — the former Le Taco space.
Gatewood said he has not forgotten about Gilbert. "Immediately after we open our Downtown Phoenix flagship location, Gilbert will
once again become one of our top priorities," his post read.
Gatewood is a former defensive back and wide receiver for the Arizona Rattlers. He started his food truck in 2019 because he couldn't find the kind of burger he was craving, so he decided to make his own, along with tacos.
And the name? Well, that came from his years in retail. After leaving football, he opened a clothing store named Moody Blues in 2006. Once Snoop visited the store, "everything was for shizzle and dizzle," he told The Republic in an earlier interview. So they started using Randizzle and the name stuck.
What's on the menu at Randizzle's?
Diners can find a variety of burgers like classic, hatch (made with pepper jack, Jalapeño, hatch green chiles, bacon, grilled onion and Randizzle sauce), pb and J (made with bacon, grape jelly, peanut butter, cheese, onion ring and sauce on a pretzel bun) and sandwiches like grilled cheese and a breakfast taco.
All burgers are served with cheese and waffle fries on the side.
The opening date of the downtown location has yet to be announced.
