The first full week of the Arizona high school football season saw plenty of blowouts and some thrillers from Aug. 27-29.
Basha remains on top of The Arizona Republic's 6A rankings after outlasting Chandler 37-26 on Aug. 29. The two teams were exchanging blows most of the way in the ESPN nationally televised game before the Bears put the Wolves away with Noah Roberts' 10-yard scoring run with less than three minutes to play. The top five teams in 6A remain unchanged. Perry has cracked the top 10, while Mesa dropped out.
Here are the Republic's updated high school football rankings for each AIA conference as of Aug. 31, 2026. They reflect games played over the past two weeks, after the 1A, 2A and 3A conferences opened on Aug. 20.
