A shooting erupted at a Goodyear house party early Aug. 15, leaving one person dead and another injured.
Multiple calls reporting violence at a house party near Camelback and Citrus roads prompted Goodyear police to respond to a “chaotic” scene around 1:50 a.m., according to a police statement. Callers reported that teens and young adults began fleeing the party after gunfire erupted.
Police said they found a man near Indian School Road and Loop 303 with life-threatening injuries. He later died at a hospital. A second man suffered a "minor graze wound" and drove himself to a hospital, where he was treated and released.
"This is an active homicide investigation with a large investigative footprint," said Sgt. Mayra Reeson, Goodyear police spokesperson.
Detectives continued to investigate the scene into the morning and expected to release more details, Reeson said in an email.
Indian School Road was restricted in both directions west of Loop 303.
