Location: University Drive and 80th Street in east Mesa.
Description: A 24,000-square-foot office building for the Arizona Department of Child Safety was under construction along University Drive in east Mesa.
The department was expanding in the East Valley “given the demands placed on the agency in the City of Mesa and the surrounding areas with increases in the reporting of child abuse cases,” according to city documents.
The office will serve as a workspace for DCS social workers who support families, children and foster families.
Social workers will use the office space to process the paperwork for individual case files of families within the DCS system, according to the documents.

The office will see 10 to 12 public visitors a day, according
to the planning documents. All appointments will be prescheduled, and the office will have no walk-in services.
About 77 staff members will work out of the office.
History of Site: The site was previously a vacant 3-acre site zoned for neighborhood commercial development. Innovative Technology Development Group, LLC, the property owner, purchased the property for $1.2 million in April 2025, according to documents with the Maricopa County Recorder’s Office.
When will work be done? It was not immediately clear when construction would be finished.
