Members of a Litchfield Park family were discovered missing under "suspicious circumstances," according to Avondale police.
Family members had requested a welfare check for the residents of a home — a husband, wife and their adult son — in the area of North Litchfield and Indian School roads, according to an Avondale Police Department media advisory. Officers entered the home on Aug. 4.
"During the welfare check, officers discovered indications that foul play may have occurred," the police advisory stated. "No individuals were located inside, and all three residents are now considered missing."
The names of the missing were not released publicly, police said, to preserve the integrity of the investigation.
Detectives were expected to remain on scene
through the evening and nighttime hours as they continued to process evidence and follow leads, the advisory stated. There is no known threat to the community.
State and federal law enforcement are assisting in the investigation.
