The first full week of the 2026 Arizona high school football season gets underway this week, starting with games on Thursday, Aug. 27, and concluding with games on Saturday, Aug. 29.
This is the first week of the season that the AIA 6A, 5A and 4A conferences begin play. The 3A, 2A and 1A conferences began last week.
Among key 6A games this week, Hamilton visits Brophy on Thurday while Red Mountain heads to Casteel. In 5A, Desert Edge visits Cactus Shadows. On Friday, a full slate of games is on tap, including Arcadia, last season's 4A runner-up, hosting Bradshaw Mountain.
The weekend concludes on Saturday, at 7 p.m. with this week's showcase game, a rematch between last year's Open Division teams, Chandler, visiting defending champion Basha, a game that
will be televised nationally on ESPN.
