The Goodyear Desert Edge High School football team will be well-represented in the Navy All-American Bowl in San Antonio in January.
Coach Henri MacArthur said he will be the defensive backs coach for the West in the game, a showcase for top high school players that will be nationally televised on NBC and streamed on Peacock. It will be played at the Alamodome.
The Arizona Interscholastic Association's executive board approved the Desert Edge coach and four players as part of the event during its monthly meeting on Monday, Aug. 10.
Joining MacArthur from Desert Edge are senior quarterback Blake Roskopf, junior edge rusher Jalanie George, and junior defensive backs Jaelyn Easterling-Flores and Nekhi Lambeth. Roskopf, who led the Scorpions to the 2024
5A title, has committed to Washington.
"It's a tremendous honor and accomplishment from those four young men," MacArthur said. "The recognition is a true testament to their hard work, dedication and sacrifice.
"Myself, our coaching staff, and the rest of the Desert Edge community are incredibly proud of them."
Desert Edge comes into the 2026 season as the favorite to capture the 5A football title. The Scorpions kick off their season on Aug. 27 at Cave Creek Cactus Shadows.
