David Caltabiano, a reporter at Arizona's Family in Phoenix, is leaving the station.
Caltabiano, a graduate of Arizona State University, announced his departure on Friday, Sept. 4, in an Instagram post.
"Today was my last day at Arizona’s Family!" Caltabiano says in the post. "I used to pray to work for this station in my home state and God blessed me with 7 incredible years. A job that connected me with my beautiful wife, our pup and lifelong friends.
"As I leave the news industry, I can’t help but to feel thankful for all of you for the love and support I’ve felt over the years. I’ll be staying in Arizona with my family to start a new career that I’m so excited about, stay tuned."
Caltabiano is leaving journalism, but not Phoenix
Arizona’s Family is comprised of Channels 3 and 5, both owned by
Atlanta-based Gray Television. Caltabiano joined the stations in 2019, and has been a reporter on "Good Morning Arizona" for the last three years. Simone Cuccurullo, a "Good Morning Arizona" anchor, announced that she was leaving the stations on Tuesday.
"Of course I’ll miss journalism. It was my dream to come back home to Phoenix and tell the stories of the community," Caltabiano told The Arizona Republic on Friday. "I'm not comfortable sharing where exactly I'm going, but OK with saying I’m heading into a communications role with a company located here in Phoenix."
He also said, "I’ll miss my wonderful colleagues at Arizona’s Family and ... I’ll miss my connection with the community."
