Some Arizona towns are known for their history, scenery, or unique personality, but one small former mining town stands out for something harder to measure: how naturally it makes visitors feel at home.
And according to World Atlas, a popular online geography resource and educational website, Bisbee is considered the most welcoming town in Arizona.
With its walkable historic streets, independent shops, colorful art scene, community festivals and mix of longtime residents and newcomers, the town has developed an atmosphere where people can feel comfortable being themselves.
Here’s why World Atlas chose Bisbee as the most welcoming town in Arizona.

declined. Newcomers helped restore parts of the historic town and contributed to the growth of its tourism and arts economy.
Another reason Bisbee stands out is its concentrated and walkable downtown. Old Bisbee has narrow streets, historic buildings, stairways, galleries, restaurants and shops tucked into unusual spaces. This layout encourages people to explore the town on foot and interact with the local community. Although the steep streets can be challenging for some visitors, the compact historic district helps create the feeling of a close-knit neighborhood rather than simply a tourist destination.
World Atlas also highlighted Bisbee’s restaurants, businesses, traditions, festivals and events that make the historic district feel lively and personal.
