Phoenix police released images of four people who the department said were in the area when a 19-year-old was beaten to death during a soccer game at a community field.
Tumusifu Bahati Bazirake died following an Aug. 6 assault that left him unresponsive before he was hospitalized and suspects remain at large, according to information police released more than a week after the incident. No arrests were announced in Bazirake's death, which police said was being investigated as a homicide.
Photos of four males were released by police in an Aug. 20 plea for help from the public.
"The individuals shown in the attached photographs were in the area during the incident and may have information important to this investigation," a statement from police said.
The photos show the individuals standing in a grassy area, but it was not clear from the information provided by police whether the images were from the field where the attack unfolded. Police did not say the four were suspects.
Anyone with information was asked to contact Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS (480-948-6377). Spanish speakers can call 480-TESTIGO (480-837-8446).
The late teen's family was confronting "deep grief and many difficult decisions all at once," wrote his father, Nsamzumuhire Bizirake, in a GoFundMe titled "Help Lay Bahati Tumusifu to Rest." The fundraiser had collected little more than $10,000 as of Aug. 20.
