Mesa police arrested two 19-year-olds in connection with a shooting that injured four people in northwest Mesa, spokesperson Sgt. Kyler Newby said.
Jonathan Valladares Mojica was arrested on suspicion of four counts of aggravated assault, assisting a criminal street gang, a gang-related threat offense and unlawful discharge of a firearm, Newby said in an email.
Mark Cortez Garcia was arrested on suspicion of four counts of facilitation to commit aggravated assault, assisting a criminal street gang and a gang-related threat offense, Newby said.
About 6 p.m. Sept. 22, officers found three injured men and a teen girl near McKellips Road and Center Street, Newby said. All four were taken to hospitals, he said.
Two of the injured were men that had been
released by the morning of Sept. 23, Newby said. The third man and the girl remained hospitalized at that time, Newby said. Mesa police did not immediately respond to a request for an update on their conditions.
