Views on the healthcare system in Arizona can be mixed, but when it comes to specific hospitals, there may not be much disagreement with how they are ranked.
U.S. News released its 2026-2027 Best Hospitals Honor Roll, and one Phoenix hospital made the list. The Honor Roll recognizes 20 hospitals that have "excellent results in treating patients in the full range of adult care" – both in the Best Hospitals Specialty rankings and Best Hospitals Procedures & Conditions. This list is not ranked in a specific order.
The organization has also ranked the best hospitals near Phoenix. This list is based on their performance in complex care in medical specialties such as cancer and in common procedures and conditions, including knee replacement and heart
failure. They also include the metro areas of Glendale, Mesa and Scottsdale.

The hospital in Arizona that made the U.S. News 2026-2027 Best Hospitals Honor Roll is Mayo Clinic-Arizona in Phoenix.
"It is nationally ranked in 9 adult specialties and rated high performing in 23 adult procedures and conditions, including Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair, Aortic Valve Surgery, Back Surgery (Spinal Fusion), Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and Colon Cancer Surgery," U.S. News writes. "It is a Best Regional Hospital and is ranked 1 in Arizona and 1 in Phoenix. 96% of patients at Mayo Clinic-Arizona are willing to recommend this hospital to others."
Other hospitals on the list include Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.
