A handful of buyers scooped up some of the remaining Salad and Go locations, including a co-founder of the original salad chain.
After Arkansas-based 7 Brew bought 63 Salad and Go locations in a bulk auction,
the company bought six more locations in a non-bulk auction, according to documents filed in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas.
In total, 34 sites were sold in the non-bulk auction
to seven different buyers.Beyond Salt and Pepper LLC, a company started by Salad and Go co-founder and executive chef Daniel Patino, bought two shuttered Salad and Go sites, one in Gilbert and one in Mesa. Patino also paid $180,000 for the intellectual property of the now-closed drive-through chain.
Patino said it is too early to announce the next steps for the stores or the intellectual property.
Tempe-based Dutch Bros, which submitted the backup bid in the bulk auction, bought five locations, all in the Phoenix metro.
Just Salad, a New York-based salad chain that does not have any Arizona locations, bought three sites. The locations are in Gilbert, Phoenix and Surprise. Similar to Salad and Go, Just Salad offers salads, wraps and drinks.
Swig, a soda shop that specializes in “dirty sodas” or sodas with mix-ins like fruit flavors or cream, bought 13 locations, 10 of which are in Arizona.
Rita’s Stores, an Italian ice and ice cream shop, bought one of the Texas locations. Sipside, a Texas-based mocktails brand bought four locations, all in Texas.
A hearing to consider the approval of the sales is scheduled for October 14.
Salad and Go abruptly closed all of its locations in early August and filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
