Three people died in separate water-related incidents across Arizona over the weekend, officials said.
A 55-year-old woman's body was recovered in the Colorado River outside of Bullhead City on Sept. 11. A witness reported seeing her enter the water and not resurface, the Bullhead City Police Department said.
The next day, about an hour south at Lake Havasu, a 65-year-old man and 59-year-old woman were killed in a high-speed boating collision, according to the Mohave County Sheriff's Office.
All three people had been identified, but other details were limited as investigation into the incidents continued.
Here's what we know.
Body found in the Colorado River
Officers arrived at the Colorado River around 8:20 a.m. Sept. 11 after a witness reported seeing a woman enter the water and
never resurface, according to a Facebook post from the Bullhead City Police Department.
Surveillance video in the area showed a woman park her vehicle and enter the river fully clothed, the post said. A police patrol boat, dive team and a water rescue and safety crew were deployed to look for her. Three hours later, a witness reported seeing a body floating nearly 3 miles down the river, the post said.
The body was recovered from the river, and the woman was pronounced dead, according to the post.
The woman has been identified as Melissa Marie Miley, 55, of Bullhead City. Circumstances surrounding why she entered the river were unknown.
Two killed in high-speed boat crash at Lake Havasu
A boat collision in Lake Havasu took the lives of two people, Mohave County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Anita Mortensen said.
At approximately 7:08 p.m. Sept. 12, deputies arrived just north of Cattail Cove Park on Lake Havasu after receiving a report of a boating accident, according to Sheriff's Office spokesperson Anita Mortensen.
Upon arrival, deputies located a 2019 36' Douglas Marine boat upside down on land. A man and woman were found unresponsive near the boat, Mortensen said.
San Bernardino County and Lake Havasu City Fire Departments also responded to assist. Lifesaving measures were performed, but the pair could not be saved, Mortensen said.
Charles Romer, 65, and Jennifer Luzzi, 59, of Lake Havasu City, were identified as the people who died, according to Mortensen.
The initial investigation showed that the watercraft was traveling at a high rate of speed when it struck a large peninsula and became airborne. The boat traveled in the air and eventually landed in a boat-in campsite north of the initial impact, Mortensen said.
Deputies from the Sheriff's Office Division of Boating Safety were investigating the incident, according to Mortensen.
