Gilbert police were investigating a police shooting early Sept. 15 and said there was no ongoing threat to the public.
The shooting occurred in a neighborhood near Lindsay and Guadalupe roads, and no officers were injured, Sgt. Jordan Truckenbrod, a Gilbert Police Department spokesperson, said in a statement issued shortly before 6 a.m.
No one was being sought in connection with the shooting, police said in an update on X.
Mesa police were responding as part of the East Valley Critical Incident Response Team, Truckenbrod said.
Police had not released information about what led to the shooting, who fired or whether anyone else was injured.
There have been at least 61 police shootings in Arizona so far in 2026, with at least 33 of them fatal.
