September has already had some massive food recalls, including for pasta, meat, flour and cheese.
A food recall is the removal of food from the market that is in violation of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's
regulations.
Recalled foods may cause injury or illness, especially for those who are pregnant or have weakened immune systems.
A food may be recalled for contamination with disease-causing microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses or parasites; the presence of foreign objects, including broken glass or fragments of metal or plastic; or for failing to list a major allergen on the product label, such as peanuts or shellfish, according to the FDA.
The FDA regulates all foods except meat, poultry and processed egg products, which are regulated by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Recent food recalls in Arizona
Here are some of the recent food recalls affecting Arizona:
- Raw pork, beef and goat products: Star Meat Delivery Inc. is recalling 167,639 pounds of raw pork, beef and goat products that were produced without federal inspection and labeled with a false USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to the distributor A&D Foods, for further distribution to retail and restaurant locations nationwide.
- Italian Lemon Alfredo Fettuccine: Gias Foods of New York recalled two lots of bettergoods' Authentic Italian Lemon Alfredo Fettuccine due to potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination, which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections. The frozen packaged pasta was sold at Walmart stores nationwide.
- Cabricharme cheese: Whole Foods Market issued an allergy alert on undeclared eggs in the Fromagerie Coop de Mean Cabricharme cheese. The cheese was sold in the specialty cheese department and was labeled as Belgian Cabricharme in Arizona. The product has been removed from store shelves.
- Alfalfa Sprouting Seed: Berlin Seeds recalled 950 pounds of Alfalfa Sprouting Seed because it may have been contaminated with salmonella.
- Salted Caramel Cluster Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert Pints: Danone USA is issuing a voluntary recall of So Delicious Dairy Free Salted Caramel Cluster Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert pints with the best-by dates on and before April 3, 2028, due to the potential presence of foreign materials such as small stones and other hard objects in the cashew inclusions.
- All Purpose Flour and Bread Mix and Flat Bread Pizza Mix: GF Blends is recalling Truly AIP All Purpose Flour and Bread Mix and EAT G.A.N.G.S.T.E.R. Flat Bread Pizza Mix due to potential undeclared wheat gluten. If consumed, people with celiac disease or a severe gluten intolerance run the risk of adverse health effects or allergic reactions. Affected products were distributed up to Sept. 12, 2026, on eatgangster.com, trulyaip.com and Amazon.com to retail and online customers nationwide.
