It was just after 1:30 a.m. when a pickup truck came crashing into a Gilbert home, injuring a 45-year-old resident inside and causing structural damage.
Gannon Dodge, 21, was behind the wheel on Oct. 25 when Gilbert police officers first observed the truck driving recklessly in Gilbert's Downtown District, Officer Calyssa Wilkerson said.
The same truck was seeing performing a burnout before an officer tried to pull Dodge over, Wilkerson said. Dodge then fled eastbound at a high rate of speed and "failed to negotiate a turn," crashing into a home near Burk Street and Guadalupe Road, according to Wilkerson.
Officers quickly detained Dodge and two people in the vehicle while the Gilbert Fire and Rescue Department arranged transportation to the hospital.
The resident had minor injuries, Wilkerson said.
Speed and impairment were believed to have contributed to the incident, Wilkerson said.
Dodge was arrested and faces charges for aggravated assault, endangerment, reckless driving, DUI and extreme DUI, according to Wilkerson.
