The Phoenix Suns officially announced Sunday, Sept. 27, the additions of Duop Reath and Kennedy Chandler to the roster going into the start of training camp.
Media day is Monday, Sept. 28. Camp begins Sept. 29.
NBA teams can have up to 21 players on their camp roster. The Suns have 20.

Who is Reath?
A 6-9, 245-pound big, Reath averaged 6.2 points and 2.6 rebounds in 146 games (20 starts) for the Portland Trail Blazers over three seasons (2023-26).
Born in South Sudan, the 30-year-old
Reath lived much of his childhood in Australia. He played for the Australian national team and won a bronze medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics (played in 2021 in Tokyo amid the COVID-19 pandemic).
His name is pronounced DOO-op REETH.
Who is Kennedy Chandler?
A 6-foot guard, Chandler averaged 15 points, 6.7 assists, 3.4 rebounds and a steal in 11 games for the Utah Jazz.
Chandler played all of his games in late March and early April. He scored a career-high 31 points on April 7 against the New Orleans Pelicans and posted 26 points, 10 assists and five rebounds versus the Memphis Grizzlies on April 10.
He scored 11 points, dished out eight assists and committed four turnovers against the Suns in a 134-109 defeat on March 28 in Phoenix.
The 24-year-old played 36 games for the Memphis Grizzlies in 2022-23. He was the 38th overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft out of Tennessee.
NBA teams must reduce their roster to 15 standard players on Oct. 19 by 2 p.m. MST (5 p.m. ET). They can have three two-way players.
Phoenix opens the regular season Oct. 21 at Portland.
What do the Suns need to do with Mark Williams injured?
Williams will be out for months with a torn labrum he suffered during an offseason workout. He underwent surgery Sept. 10.
The Suns fielded three centers last season: Williams, Ighodaro and Maluach. Williams started 55 of the career-high 60 games he played in his first year in Phoenix, Ighodaro didn’t miss a game and Maluach was a rookie who hardly played.
With Williams expected to be sidelined for an extended period, Duop could serve as that third center, but the Suns currently have 15 players on standard deals.
Phoenix would have to waive one of those players to add Duop to a standard deal.
Highsmith is last player Phoenix added on a standard deal.
The veteran 6-5 forward signed a one-year deal for three million, his agent, Jerry Dianis, confirmed to The Arizona Republic last month after Phoenix waived him a week earlier.
Another two-way for Reath?
The Suns could also sign Reath on a two-way deal since he has three years of NBA experience. Two-way players can have three years of NBA experience or fewer.
This would be Reath’s last season eligible for a two-way deal.
Reath was on a two-way with the Blazers during his rookie season in 2023-24 before agreeing to a three-year, $6.2-million deal in February 2024.
If the Suns added Reath as a two-way player, they’d have to cut one of their current two-way players to make room for him.
Looking at Phoenix’s three two-way players, Brea and Spencer are guards and Huntley is a big at 6-11, 230 pounds, who was an undrafted rookie last season.
Spencer is coming off a career year. The 30-year-old averaged 7.2 points in 66 games last season with the Golden State Warriors.
Brea played only 12 games last season, but he’s one of the team’s better 3-point shooters. Phoenix drafted him in the second round of the 2025 NBA Draft out of Kentucky.
Huntley run it back with Valley Suns?
Huntley, 24, saw action in just four games last season as he and Brea spent most of their time in the G League with the Valley Suns.
If taken off a two-way, Huntley could start the season with the Valley Suns.

Phoenix has done it before.
Last season, the Suns waived Huntley in November 2025 off a two-way deal to make room for Bouyea to sign a two-way contract.
They could very well do the same to add Reath on a two-way.
Phoenix put Huntley back on a two-way late last regular season after signing Bouyea to a standard deal.
