Construction is underway on what is being described as the largest hotel in Avondale and possibly one of the largest throughout the southwest Valley.
The six-story, 180-suite hotel is being built to accommodate the large number of travelers who come from all over the United States for tournaments at the American Sports Centers, said Jennifer Stein, assistant city manager of Avondale,
Avondale has a year-round hotel occupancy rate of around 80% to 90%, Stein said. This made the city attractive for Hilton to build a new hotel there, she said.
Tourists also converge on Avondale for motorsports at the nearby Phoenix Raceway and to stay at its hotels during spring training games in the West Valley, Stein said.
"You already have built-in success and they
(hotel companies) can see additional growth and opportunity that will be generated from future events and opportunities," Stein said.

There are already several hotels in the city, including in The BLVD multiuse district where the Embassy is being built, but Stein described the Embassy Suites by Hilton as a "prototype" that will offer a new, "elevated" hotel experience in Avondale.
Work began Sept. 29. Construction is expected to be completed sometime in spring 2028.

Stein said the Embassy Suites by Hilton will be the largest hotel in Avondale.
A review of Google's Hotel Booking page and Travel Weekly's hotel search page shows the Embassy Suites by Hilton could potentially become one of the largest hotels in the southwest Valley next to the Wigwam in Litchfield Park, which has 331 rooms.
The new Avondale Hilton will also feature a rooftop bar that overlooks the Estrella Mountains and more than 10,000 square feet of meeting and conference space, according to a press release about the hotel's groundbreaking.
It is the fourth hotel in Avondale's The BLVD, a multiuse, walkable district that has been in the works for about 10 years. When completed, The BLVD will feature several restaurants, entertainment and hotels.
