Phoenix Suns center Mark Williams is likely out for the start of the season after having surgery on Thursday, Sept. 10.
The Suns' statement said Williams "underwent successful surgery on Thursday to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder. The injury occurred during an offseason workout. A timetable for his return to play will be established at a later date."
After proving he could play more than 50 games in a season, Williams signed a three-year, $38 million contract over the summer, avoiding free agency.
Williams, who turns 25 in December, played in 60 games during the 2025-26 season, posting 11.7 points and 8.0 rebounds per game.
The Suns begin training camp at the end of this month.
