Kerr is grateful to the Phoenix Suns for launching his legendary NBA career. He's in his 13th season with the Golden State Warriors, the league's longest active coaching tenure on a team.

Before the Suns' 131-122 home-opening win against the Warriors on Oct. 25, Kerr was asked during his pregame media availability about the sentimental value of returning to Phoenix.

"I always love coming back here," Kerr said. "Coming back to Arizona, coming back to the arena where I spent three years as (Suns) GM, my original team as a player and the Suns organization always holds a special place in my heart."
