An
unidentified person was found floating in the Arizona Canal and died early on Aug. 7, Phoenix fire officials said.
Firefighters responded to a call for a water rescue around 7:30 a.m. near 24th Street and the canal. They found a body floating in the water, and the patient was "beyond resuscitation," Capt. Todd Keller said in an email update.
The scene was turned over to the Phoenix Police Department for an investigation, Keller said.
