Greenfield Road was closed in both directions on U.S. 60 in Mesa as police investigated a shooting involving people in two vehicles, according to Detective Robert Katz of the Mesa Police Department.
Officers responded to the area for calls of a shooting at about 2:30 p.m. Oct. 18, Katz said. A man with an injury consistent with a gunshot wound drove himself to a hospital for treatment. The extent of his injuries was unknown, Katz said.
Officers located the people involved, and there was no known ongoing threat to the community, Katz said. The investigation remained active.
The closure remained in effect as of 4:25 p.m., and Katz urged drivers to avoid the area and use alternate routes.
