On Thursday, Aug. 27, Rockstar Games presented what could likely be the final look at Grand Theft Auto 6 before it releases on Nov. 19, 2026.
Streamed exclusively on Netflix, Rockstar Games gave gamers an extended look — 26 minutes, to be exact — at the storylines, gameplay and more players can expect when the game releases later this year. All of the gameplay portions of this extended look were streamed via a PlayStation 5, and there were plenty of cutscenes showcased along with more trailer-looking shots.
That is why I think this is likely the last update we will get of the game before it drops.
Here are five big reveals the Netflix extended look gave players.
Meet Lucia and Jason
We've been teased for over a year now that our main duo, Lucia and Jason, are criminals,
with Lucia recently being an inmate at the Leonida Penitentiary. However, this extended look gave us a better view of who they are as characters and what kinds of shenanigans they can get into.
We see Jason and Lucia fight the police in a drug den while picking up for someone; we see them get hired as security detail for a creative coke addict, where they are subject to fighting another gang at a party gone wrong, along with your typical GTA petty crimes and we even see them spending the day relaxing on the beach at one point. It's not all hard work in GTA 6.
New ways to travel
It wouldn't be GTA if we didn't see some cars and other modes of transportation. Our first car is Jason and Lucia's convertible, which can have the top up or down. No word yet on whether there are specific controls for that or if it's automatic for the game when you're driving or parked.
Even more exciting are the other ways you can travel in the game, like kayaking, scuba diving, swimming, airboats and more. And don't worry, your map is always going to be in that lower left corner guiding you.
More interactions
It looks like GTA 6 is going to let you do a little more than just slowly walk or sprint everywhere you go. Players will now be able to knock on doors, open the refrigerator and get a drink or snack, flip through the different channels on television and best of all: pet dogs.
Character switching
If you've been curious if you'll be able to switch between playing as Jason or Lucia, this extended look finally answered that question. And it's a yes. One scene showed the duo in a car going up against the police and the gameplay showcased how you could switch between Jason in the driver's seat or Lucia in the front seat with a gun taking aim at the police.
More realistic
It's no secret that the more technology advances, the more realistic video games will become, and GTA 6 looks more real than any other iteration yet. The graphics have been updated to make every person's face look and move more realistically and those who are here for the cars and driving will be happy to know that they'll experience dynamic driving while behind the wheel, with the suspension, acceleration and braking features being incredibly real.
