"Today in AZ" is getting a new morning co-anchor.

Dan Spindle is joining the 12 News morning show in Phoenix, along with Emma Jade. Allison Rodriguez, the former co-host of the show, left the station in June.

“I've always been proud to call Arizona home,” Spindle said in a statement. “This state has shaped who I am, and I'm excited to bring that connection to the 12 News team and the Phoenix community."

Spindle grew up in Wilcox, and worked most recently as an anchor at KGUN in Tucson. He has also worked at ABC 15 and Fox 10 in Phoenix, as well as at KSL in Salt Lake City and KOBI in Medford, Oregon.

Dan Spindle spent six years at Channel 15 (KNXV).

When does Dan Spindle start at 12 News?

“Dan’s experience and deep connection to our community will have a strong impact on our morning show,” Kate Morris, the president and general manager

of 12 News, said in a statement. “He’s dedicated his career to serving Arizona, so he has a unique understanding of our community and the issues we cover, which will connect with our audiences on a personal level.”

Spindle's first day on the air will be Oct. 12.
