Randy Bennett landed his first big commitment as the new head men's basketball coach at Arizona State.
Carson Crawford, a 6-foot-6 wing from Fleming Park High School in Orange Park, Florida, committed to the school after returning from his official visit. Georgia, Ole Miss, Florida State, Syracuse, and Texas A&M were among his other offers. He is the first addition for the 2027 cycle.
Crawford is the highest-ranked recruit since at least 2007 to commit to Bennett, who moved to Arizona State in the spring after 25 years at Saint Mary's in Moraga, California.
Crawford is ranked the No. 50 overall prospect and No. 13 small forward recruit in the class on the 247Sports Composite, while he is ranked 46th in ESPN's Next 100. ESPN also lists him as the No. 10 power
forward in the class.
He is the No. 47 overall recruit in the 2027 class and the 12th-ranked small forward, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, an average of all three major recruiting media companies (Rivals, ESPN, 247Sports).
Crawford was a member of the Florida Rebels AAU club, which won the 2026 Nike EYBL Peach Jam tournament, widely considered a top grassroots basketball competition. He averaged 7.9 points and 8.1 rebounds per game while shooting better than 55% from the field during the title run.
In his junior season at Fleming Island, Crawford averaged 17.2 points, 9.8 rebounds, 2.5 steals, 2.0 assists and 1.3 blocks per game.
