We all know the real challenge of a summer getaway isn't packing the cooler; it's finding a parking spot without wondering if your car will still be there.
A new study suggests Arizona drivers have it tougher than anyone else. Researchers with personal injury law firm Munley Law surveyed 3,001 people nationwide about the most frustrating summer parking lots in their states, looking at places where drivers regularly deal with packed lots, limited spaces, illegal parking, blocked entrances, aggressive behavior, near-misses and other parking headaches.
The survey found that the biggest parking headaches are too few spaces, people ignoring parking rules and high parking fees. Illegal parking was the bad behavior Arizonans reported seeing most often,
followed by drivers squeezing into spaces that are too small and cars blocking entrances or exits.

Where should you avoid parking your car?
Arizona earned the dubious distinction of ranking No. 1 for the country's most frustrating summer parking destinations. The survey found the parking frustration goes well beyond circling for a space. Results showed that 59% of Arizonans said they've skipped a summer destination because parking was simply too stressful, while 22% said they've been involved in a parking dispute at a beach, lake, park or vacation spot.
The state's top three worst parking spots are:
- Pleasant Harbor Marina Parking at Lake Pleasant in Peoria.
- Horseshoe Bend Parking Lot in Page.
- Salt River Tubing HQ parking lots in Mesa.
Other states that were ranked for the most frustrating summer parking destinations were Florida, New Jersey, New York, South Carolina, Hawaii, Indiana, Texas and California.
