PORTLAND — The Phoenix Suns played horribly in their season opener, losing 124-83 Oct. 21 to the Portland Trail Blazers at Moda Center.
Meanwhile, several former Suns shined in their first game of the 2026-27 season, with one being Blazers forward Toumani Camara.
A second-round pick by Phoenix in the 2023 NBA Draft, Camara never played a regular-season game for the Suns, who dealt him to Portland in a three-team trade involving Damian Lillard, Deandre Ayton, Jusuf Nurkic and Grayson Allen before the 2023-24 season.
Camara finished Wednesday’s game with 18 points, going 4-of-7 from 3, in 22 minutes.
Here are some other former Suns who showed out in their season openers.
Ty Jerome career night, Durant 30-piece
Ty Jerome (Memphis Grizzlies): Career-high 45 points (5-of-10 on 3s), seven rebounds
and six assists in 123-103 win over Utah Jazz.
Kevin Durant (Houston Rockets): 30 points, six rebounds, three assists, a steal and block in 128-110 win over Dallas Mavericks.
Grayson Allen (Charlotte Hornets): 21 points (5-of-8 from 3) and four assists in 28 minutes of 110-103 win over the Brooklyn Nets.
Jalen Smith (Chicago Bulls): 15 points and eight rebounds in 135-92 loss to the Toronto Raptors.
Deandre Ayton (Washington Wizards): 11 points (5-of-6 FGs), four rebounds, two blocks in 128-116 win over Milwaukee Bucks.

Mikal Bridges and Landry Shamet didn’t fare so well in their season opener Oct. 20 for the defending champion New York Knicks.
The two former Suns combined for nine points on 4-of-15 shooting in a 106-100 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers, but they got their championship rings.
