Arizona State sixth-year senior linebacker Zyrus Fiaseu will be out for the season with a lower-body injury sustained in the scrimmage on Aug. 22 at Mountain America Stadium.
It is a tough blow for the 6-foot, 235-pounder who missed eight games in 2025 due to an ankle injury that required surgery. He totaled 12 tackles and one fumble recovery.
He was granted an extra year of eligibility to play this season. He is the team's most experienced linebacker and a member of the Pat Tillman Leadership Council.
This is the third season in Tempe for Fiaseu, who started his college career with two games at San Diego State. He has played in 45 career games (18 at ASU and 27 at San Diego State), including two games in 2022. He has 136 career tackles (61 solos),
eight passes defended, and four fumble recoveries.
Fiaseu is the third player ruled out for the season, the others being defensive back Nigel Pringle and defensive lineman My'Keil Gardner. Pringle was injured in the scrimmage at Camp Tontonzona, and coach Kenny Dilligham announced his prognosis after the scrimmage on Aug. 22 at Mountain America Stadium.
