Jakyi 'Kyi Kyi' Miles, a 6-foot-5 point guard who transferred from Mesa High to AZ Compass Prep, is reclassifying from the 2028 to the 2027 high school graduating class and will play college basketball at Arizona State.
Miles announced his college decision on Monday, Oct. 26, at AZ Compass Prep's Chandler campus. Miles is ranked 19th in the nation for the 2028 class by ESPN. He plans to finish school a year early to play for the Sun Devils in the 2027-28 season.
"It means a lot to stay at home," Miles said. "My family will be able to see me play in college. It's a blessing. A lot of emotions going around right now."
Miles has been on the college radar since entering high school. He averaged 26.6 points a game last season as a sophomore for the Jackrabbits,
leading them to 22 wins. He also averaged 6.6 rebounds, five assists and two steals.
MIles is reclassiflying like Goodyear Millennium guard Adan Diggs, who has yet to announced his college commitment.
"It's great to alway have a player stay home to be able to watch him play," AZ Compass Prep coach Pete Kaffey said. "Him being born and raised in Arizona, it's good for Arizona State. Now getting elite guys saying yes to ASU. Kudos to (coach) Randy Bennett and his staff."
Miles said ASU did a great job recruiting him.
"Randy Bennett is a great coach," Miles said. "He's produced a lot of great guards (at Saint Mary's College).
"He believes in me and I believe he can get me to the next level."
He is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 32 overall recruit, the No. 3 combo guard, and the No. 1 prospect out of Arizona in the 2028 cycle. Rivals has him pegged as the No. 27 overall recruit, No. 5 point guard, and the No. 2 player in Arizona.
An average of all three major recruiting media companies (Rivals, ESPN, 247Sports), will be re-evaluated following his move into the 2027 class.

Miles had 27 offers. Among them were Big 12 competitors Texas Tech, Kansas, Baylor, TCU, and West Virginia, as well as Texas, Missouri, and North Carolina State. His only other visit was to Stanford.
The Sun Devils 2027 class already includes small forward Howard Williams (Dynamic Prep, Chicago) and power forward Carson Crawford (Fleming Island, Orange Park, Fla.), both four-star prospects.
