Two people are safe after a small plane had a “harrowing” crash landing at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport.
The plane, a Piper PA-44 Seminole, had a problem with its landing gear on Saturday, Oct. 3, Mesa Fire and Medical Department spokesperson Richard Harless said.
As a result, the plane was forced to touch down without it.
“The aircraft completed a gear-up landing before coming to a harrowing stop,” Harless said in an email.
Both passengers got out of the plane on their own. There were no injuries, Harless said.
First responders arrived at the scene at 2 p.m., Harless said, and made sure the plane was safely shut down before they left.
