A car hit 16-year-old Logan Almodova, who died after deputies found him seriously injured on a San Tan Valley road, Pinal County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Sam Salzwedel said.
Deputies found Logan around 11:30 p.m. Oct. 1 on Murray Grey Drive, near Empire Boulevard and Gary Road in San Tan Valley.
He died the next day at Banner Desert Medical Center, his mother, Megan Almodova, said.
Investigators were also examining other potential injuries Logan received, Salzwedel said. No arrests had been made as of Oct. 5, and investigators were seeking information from the public, he said.
Here’s what we know about Logan’s life and the questions surrounding his death.

Who was Logan Almodova?
Logan turned 16 on Sept. 4. He was applying for his first job and planned to take his driver's
license test in November, his mother, Megan Almodova, told The Arizona Republic.
He was homeschooled and loved to fish, cook and play video games, she said.
She said Logan often went fishing with his grandfather at Lake Pleasant and learned to cook his favorite foods by watching YouTube and TikTok videos.
"He was a 16-year-old boy who was just starting his life," his mother said.
His mother said in a social media post he would be remembered as a son, brother, grandson and friend who was "deeply loved." She repeatedly reemphasized the tragedy of her son's life taken so soon.
"He wanted to travel, explore and experience everything that existed beyond Arizona," Megan Almodova wrote.
Eight slides filled with photos of Logan traced his young life, capturing cherished moments with friends and family, days spent fishing and riding dirt bikes.
"We are now grieving a future our son will never get to experience," she wrote.
Megan Almodova said she has seen hurtful comments and judgements made about her family and Logan.
"We ask you, please: Do not turn the death of our child into a judgement of our parenting," she wrote.
Where and when was Logan found?
Around 11:30 p.m. Oct. 1, deputies found Logan with life-threatening injuries on Murray Grey Drive, Salzwedel said.
Logan was airlifted to Banner Desert Medical Center, where he died Oct. 2 surrounded by family, his mother said.
What do we know about his injuries?
Salzwedel confirmed in an Oct. 4 email that Logan was hit by a car. Logan’s mother previously told The Republic that investigators believed a car had struck him.
“Other potential injuries are under investigation,” Salzwedel said.
He did not describe those potential injuries or explain how the car hit Logan.
What do we know about the three boys questioned?
Three boys were taken into custody for questioning the night Logan was found and released, according to Salzwedel.
“All of the subjects knew each other,” Salzwedel said.
He said Oct. 5 that no arrests had been made.
Deputies shared no further information on the three boys.
What remains unanswered?
The Sheriff’s Office has not provided an official cause of death as of Oct. 5. His name did not yield any results on the Pinal County Medical Examiner's online report lookup.
Salzwedel did not say who was driving the car, whether the driver stayed at the scene or whether investigators had identified a suspect.
The information provided by the Sheriff’s Office did not establish the three boys’ roles in the incident.
Salzwedel said Oct. 5 that he had reached out to detectives for additional information but had not heard back.
In an Oct. 4 post, Megan Almodova, said that she wasn't able to share everything she knew about the investigation.
"There are things we cannot publicly discuss while that investigation is ongoing," she said.
How can the public help?
Investigators are asking for any information relating to the incident, Salzwedel said.
Anyone with information should call 520-866-5111 and ask for Detective Ramon Gonzalez.
Logan's mother, Megan Almodova, pleaded for anyone with information on her son's death to come forward.
"What happened to Logan was not simply an accident," she said in a Oct. 4 social media post. "If someone told you something, please tell investigators," she added.
A GoFundMe account has been created to help the family cover expenses. By Oct. 5, it had generated over $15,000 of a $22,000 goal.
