America declared independence from a king nearly 250 years ago, and some protesters are making it clear they haven’t forgotten why.
The “No Kings” protests are a nationwide movement opposing what organizers describe as authoritarianism and excessive executive power under President Donald Trump. Organizers describe the demonstrations as nonviolent.
The most recent major No Kings demonstration took place on March 28, 2026, when thousands of events were held across the country. In Arizona, more than 70 protests were scheduled, including events in Phoenix, Tucson, Tempe, Mesa, Scottsdale, Chandler, Flagstaff and other communities. Thousands of people participated across the state.
Now, another nationwide No Kings Day of Action is coming up. Organizers
say the event will also encourage people to participate in early voting, making the date especially significant.

When is the next No Kings protest 2026?
The next nationwide No Kings mobilization is Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026.
This one is being called “No Kings: Vote Early.” It will be somewhat different from past demonstrations since organizers say the emphasis will be on getting people to vote early, making voting plans and election-protection efforts, while local communities can still hold rallies, marches, visibility events, block parties, walks to the polls, canvassing and other gatherings.
The organizers describe the Oct. 17 events as nonpartisan voter-participation activities intended to encourage eligible voters to participate, rather than simply another nationwide protest.
What is No Kings protest about?
“No Kings” is a protest movement organized around opposition to what its organizers characterize as excessive or authoritarian use of presidential power by Trump.
The name comes from the organizers' argument that the United States is a democracy, not a monarchy, and that no president is above the Constitution, courts, Congress, or the people. Organizers have raised issues including immigration enforcement, executive power, federal deployments, civil rights and what they view as threats to democratic institutions.
What Arizona cities have No Kings protest?
According to the No Kings protest website, multiple cities across the United States are participating. The organizers are continuing to add locations. In Arizona, protest are already planned in the following cities:
- Chandler: 8-10 a.m., Harter Park and Chandler Boulevard.
- Tempe: 12-2 p.m., Cole Park on the pedestrian bridge.
- Fountain Hills: 8-10 a.m., no location provided.
- Village of Oak Creek: 9:30-11 a.m., Jacks Canyon Roundabout.
- Sedona: 9:30-11 a.m., Vino di Sedona lot.
- Kingman: 11 a.m.-1 p.m., no location provided.
