At My Place Cafe in Chandler is closing at the end of the year after nearly 10 years.
The Filipino restaurant first opened in Mesa around 2017. Five years later, it relocated to its current location in Chandler. Manila-born chef Flordeliza Obregon, a graduate of Scottsdale Culinary Institute, prepared made-to-order dishes like pork sisig, lomi noodle soup and oxtail kare-kare that won over our former critic's heart. She loved it enough to give it 4 stars out of five.
On Oct. 14, Apes Bartolome Krissman posted the news on Facebook, asking diners to support the restaurant and contact the owner if anyone is willing to take over and carry on Obregon's legacy.
Obregon said she and her husband decided to close due to failing health. "We are trying to go home,"
she said.
Fans expressed sadness and listed their favorite dishes in the comments.
"This is my favorite place since moving here from Chicago," wrote Marissa Cecilia.
"We will miss at my place. They have the best pansit, palabok and sisig," wrote Jet Dizon Mac.
Obregon said she decided to close the restaurant as she's ready to retire.
Last day of service: Dec. 31.
Details: 3450 W. Chandler Blvd., Suite #9, Chandler. 480-838-1008, orderatmyplacecafe.com.
