A Gilbert school district is under fire after a famous social media account accused it of letting a student mock Charlie Kirk one year after his assassination.
In the post, a student whose face is not shown is seen wearing a white shirt that appears to say "Freedom" with what appear to be fake red blood stains at the top. Kirk was wearing a white T-shirt that read "Freedom" the day he was shot in the neck during an event at Utah Valley University on Sept. 10, 2025.
The post claimed the student was at Higley High School in Gilbert.
Jessica Bautista, a Higley Unified School District spokesperson, confirmed the photo was of a Higley High student.
The photo was posted on Sept. 11 by Libs of TikTok, which is a popular far-right social media account operated
by Chaya Raichik. The account is currently suspended from TikTok but has nearly 5 million followers on X.
Raichik's post, which appears to be a submission from her inbox, said the school reportedly did not discipline the student.
"I’m told the student received no consequences and was allowed to walk around," the post read.
In a message to families, Principal Brian Banach said the school and district administrators were aware of the posts circulating and that the district was legally prohibited from disclosing student records, including discipline.
"We encourage parents to talk to their children about appropriate school attire and online behavior," Banach said in the statement.
The district released a nearly identical statement on Sept. 11, adding that it does not condone political violence or shootings.
"As always, safety is our top priority, and we appreciate our community's cooperation in keeping a safe and respectful environment for everyone at Higley High and all Higley schools," the statement read.
