Location: North Mesa Drive and East University Drive in Mesa.
Description: An apartment complex meant to bring affordable housing near downtown Mesa may be approaching completion.
The Cabana Mesa Drive apartments are slated to wrap up construction in January 2027 with leasing expected to start in December 2026, according to Scottsdale-based affordable housing developer Greenlight Communities.
The 180-unit complex will have four buildings and offer units ranging from studio to two-bedroom, according to a 2025 Greenlight press release.
This will be the company's 19th project in Arizona, and third in Mesa. The company picked the site because of its access to public transportation, and its proximity to downtown.
Amenities include a dog park, pool, clubhouse,
fitness center, and landscaped community spaces.

The rental rates haven't been published yet, but another Greenlight Mesa complex at 9733 E. Southern Ave. has rents ranging from around $1,209 per month for a studio to $1,599 per month for a two-bedroom apartment.
History: The complex sits on the site formerly occupied by Mesa General Hospital. The building was demolished in 2023 to make way for the apartment complex.
When will the work be done? Completion is slated for January 2027. Developer Greenlight is advertising leasing to begin in December 2026.
