A 66-year-old man upset over his dog's death shot up a Prescott veterinary clinic in a late-night drive-by, police said.
Anthony Aiello riddled Harmony Veterinary Care with bullets, shattering the front door and sending at least a dozen rounds into the reception area and through interior walls, according to Prescott police.
The Sept. 9 shooting occurred at 11:22 pm. Video footage from inside the business captured Aiello's white Ford Expedition entering the parking lot, police said. It showed rounds being fired from inside the SUV at the building. Two more rounds were fired toward the street as it left.
Detectives used Flock cameras to track the Expedition in and out of town and confirm Aiello, of the Yavapai County community of Kirkland, as the owner,
police said in a Sept. 14 Facebook post.
Detectives learned Aiello had taken his dog to the clinic on August 28, 2026, and got upset during discussions about his dog's medical condition, police said. The dog died the day before the shooting.
"A review of public social media posts also showed Aiello expressing emotional distress about the recent loss of the dog," police said in the Facebook post.
Aiello was arrested without incident outside his home on Sept. 11, police said. During a subsequent search of his home and vehicle, detectives found evidence tying Aiello to the shooting. He admitted being involved, police said in the Facebook post.
Damage to the clinic exceeded $10,000, according to police.
Aiello was booked into the Yavapai County Jail on suspicion of drive-by shooting, criminal damage, unlawful discharge of a firearm, endangerment, and possession of a weapon by a prohibited possessor.
Court records show Aiello in 2020 was found guilty of felony drug possession.
