Phoenix Suns All-Star Devin Booker doesn’t see any distraction for the team with Dillon Brooks being formally charged with driving under the influencestemming from his March 6 arrest.
“Nah, we already addressed it as a team back in February or March, when it happened,” Booker said. “We kept everything in-house. He addressed the team also. We’re moving on.”
Brooks was charged with a class 1 misdemeanor Sept. 29 related to the March arrest. He’s scheduled for a court arraignment Oct. 28, according to Scottsdale City Court records.
The Suns play at the Oklahoma City Thunder on Oct. 26 and return home to face the Denver Nuggets on Oct. 30.
Brooks was arrested March 6 on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Scottsdale police stopped a vehicle Brooks
was driving about 1 a.m. on Scottsdale Road just south of Thunderbird Road, according to Sgt. Allison Sempsis, a police department spokesperson.
The officer informed Brooks he was pulled over for moving out of his lane six times while being followed.
Brooks is entering his second season with the Suns after joining the team in the Kevin Durant trade before the 2025 NBA Draft. Brooks averaged a career-high 20.2 points last season and set a culture change for the Suns built on toughness, physicality and intensity.
“When Dillon is in the building, he’s in the building,” Suns coach Jordan Ott said Sept. 29 about Brooks being a motivator. “We all Dillon is coming from a good place. He’s coming from his own way. He wants to win as bad as anyone else.”
Brooks spoke during Suns media day Sept. 28 and after the first day of training camp Sept. 29, before news of the city charge broke. Brooks played a major role in Phoenix winning 45 games and making the playoffs last season after failing to reach the postseason in 2024-25 with Booker, Durant and Bradley Beal.
“We’re keeping the same type of focus, same type of profile as last year where we’re getting guys in early, we’re teaching early so we can just get right into training camp,” Brooks said Sept. 29. “Playing 5-on-5, doing live stuff. Not so much review, review over and over, offense and defense.”
Brooks signed a three-year, $73 million extension this summer.
“He’s the ultimate competitor,” Suns big Oso Ighodaro said. “We love Dillon here.”
