Phoenix fire officials are working to determine what caused a large fire at a hotel off Interstate 17.
There were no reported injuries, according to Fire Department spokesperson Capt. Mike Johnson.
Around 5:45 a.m. on Oct. 23, officials responded to the Travelodge by Wyndham near 25th Avenue and Greenway Road. They found a vacant building with heavy smoke and flames coming through the roof, Johnson said.
Because of the fire's size and threat to nearby occupied buildings, Johnson said, the incident was considered to be more serious. It was upgraded to a second-alarm fire assignment.
Firefighters were able to limit the fire's spread and combated it from above. Investigators were still at the site hours later.
