It seems like every week there's another food recall making headlines, leaving many shoppers wondering if anything is safe to eat anymore.
Fromlettuce and eggs to Pillsbury products, frozen burritos, snacks,
meats and even pantry staples, the list of recalled foods has continued to grow, affecting grocery stores across the country.
Food recalls happen for a variety of reasons. Some are linked to possible contamination from bacteria such as Salmonella, Listeria, or E. coli, while others involve undeclared allergens like milk, peanuts, or soy that could pose serious health risks to people with food allergies.
Products may also be recalled because of mislabeling, packaging mistakes, foreign materials such as plastic or metal, or because they were produced without the required food safety inspections.
Here are the products currently being recalled in Arizona.
What foods are being recalled in Arizona?
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, these foods and products are being recalled in Arizona:
- Various Meat & Poultry Products (Multiple Brands): Public health alert issued because they contain FDA-regulated dairy ingredients recalled over potential Salmonella contamination; affected products were distributed nationwide.
- Beef & Pork Products (Uninspected): Public health alert issued because the products were produced without the benefit of federal inspection, meaning they may not have undergone required food safety checks.
- Ready-to-Eat Beef Jerky: Public health alert issued due to misbranding and an undeclared allergen, posing a risk to consumers with food allergies.
- Pistachio Nut Butter (Bettergoods / Boticelli Foods): Recalled due to potential Salmonella contamination; sold at Walmart stores in Arizona.
