A triple shooting outside a Bullhead City home left one man dead and another critically wounded, while police later arrested a third man who was shot on suspicion of murder.
Bullhead City police said officers responded to reports of gunfire about 7 p.m. Sept. 24 near Lakeside Drive and Hancock Road, according to a statement released the next day.
Detectives said interviews led them to identify Julio Cesar Quijada, 26, of Bullhead City, as the “primary aggressor.”
Quijada fired several rounds at the other two men during a confrontation among family members, police said. Another person fired at Quijada, police said. Detectives were still trying to locate that person.
Police said a 22-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was not
released pending notification of his family. A 23-year-old man was airlifted to a Las Vegas hospital with gunshot wounds to his chest and was in critical condition, according to police.
Quijada was treated for a gunshot wound to his stomach at Western Arizona Regional Medical Center, then released and booked into the Mohave County Jail in Kingman, police said.
Police said they arrested Quijada on suspicion of second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder. The department also listed aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, disorderly conduct with a deadly weapon and unlawful discharge of a firearm within city limits among the offenses tied to his arrest.
Police did not specify how the people involved are related or say who fired the shot that wounded Quijada. The investigation remains ongoing.
