A personal trainer who was once on the Arizona State University football roster was sentenced to 34 years in prison after he was found guilty of four counts of sexual assault.
Tevin Favor, 34, was accused of multiple rapes over the course of several years. Officials from the Maricopa County Attorney's Office called him a "serial rapist."
He was arrested in 2018 after a woman told Scottsdale police he sexually assaulted her in her apartment, but he was acquitted by a jury. In that case, the woman told police she and Favor had gone to her apartment and he asked to hang out in her room so as to not wake up her friend. Inside her bedroom, the victim told police Favor forcibly pulled down her sweatpants and underwear and sexually assaulted her while
she told him to stop multiple times, according to police documents. He then grabbed her aggressively by her neck, according to the report.
Favor was again arrested in 2024 after a woman accused him of sexually assaulting her at a party in Paradise Valley.
According to the report, the woman told police she had been drinking and fending off Favor's advances, but she later found herself waking up in one of the bedrooms with Favor on top of her having sexual intercourse, according to the court document. He was found guilty.
In total, Favor was found guilty of sexually assaulting four women, some of whom reported the assault years after it happened, according to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office. Favor was on ASU football's 2012 preseason roster as a walk-on but never played.
"These women showed extraordinary courage,” Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell said in a statement. “Coming forward about being sexually assaulted, knowing you'll have to relive it in detail in front of strangers in a courtroom, takes a different kind of bravery. Their willingness to do so didn't just bring them justice; it helped put a serial rapist behind bars and protect other women from being harmed in the future.”
