A 23-year-old Tucson Police Department recruit was found dead and a 23-year-old corrections officer for the Pima County Sheriff’s Department was hospitalized after a shooting.
The shooting was reported about 6 a.m. on Aug 19 in a Tucson neighborhood south of Camino Verde and Valencia Road. Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos delivered an update alongside Tucson Police Chief Monica Prieto during a news conference about 10 a.m.
Nanos said the man and woman lived together and had a child together. It remained unclear what led to the shooting.
Investigators planned to interview the corrections officer as soon as possible, Nanos said.
Investigators also were going door to door and had received “some descriptions” of a suspect, Nanos said, but he did not
provide further details about whom authorities were seeking.
Nanos and Prieto urged anyone with information to call 911.
